Are you considering booking a pet photography session but find yourself hesitating to commit? You're not alone. Despite the many reasons to take the leap, it's natural to be plagued by doubts. Well, look no further. Below, I will address common objections to booking a professional pet photographer, and offer strategies for overcoming them. I assure you, it's worth it!
My Dog Isn't Trained or Well-Behaved
Navigating dog behavior during photoshoots can be quite the adventure! While having a well-trained and well-behaved dog is definitely a plus, it doesn't always guarantee a seamless session. FUN FACT: Dogs, just like us, have their own unique personalities and even the occasional "off" days. Despite their unpredictability, rest assured, I'm fully prepared for whatever antics your furry friend may bring to the session! From energetic puppies to more reserved seniors, I've seen it all and know how to handle every situation with patience and expertise.
I'm Too Busy
Feeling time-crunched? We all juggle busy schedules, and finding time for a pet photography session can feel like fitting a square peg in a round hole—stressful, if not downright impossible. But fear not! With my photography sessions, I've got a trick up my sleeve. Starting with candid shots means I'm simply tagging along while you and your dog do your thing. Think about it: if you're already spending quality time with your furry friend, why not capture those moments effortlessly? Do you frequent the dog park weekly? That's 52 golden opportunities to schedule a session with me. How about monthly outings to scenic spots like the beach, the Wooden Shoe Tulip Farm, or our picturesque parks (like Lacamas Lake)? That's 12 more chances to freeze those cherished moments in time. Let's ditch the time constraints and meet you where you're at!
I'm Not Photogenic Enough
Concerns about personal appearance in photos is completely understandable and something many of us can relate to. It's natural to want to look our best in photographs, but it's important to remember that the focus of the session is on capturing genuine moments and the bond between you and your dog.
Feeling confident and comfortable during the photoshoot is key to capturing authentic images that you'll cherish for years to come. It's normal to have doubts about how you'll look in the photos, but don't let those thoughts hold you back. Trust me, I've been there myself. I've heard all the excuses: "I'll book when I lose 10 pounds" or "I don't like the way I look." But let me tell you, years down the road, you'll be grateful you didn't let those doubts stop you from booking a session.
Think about it this way: you'll get so many beautiful photos of your precious dog that you could literally pretend the photos of yourself aren't there, until you're ready to look back on the special bond you shared. So, embrace the moment, be yourself, and let me capture the magic of your relationship with your beloved companion. You won't regret it.
A Photo Session Sounds Expensive
You know, perceptions about photography sessions being expensive can really vary. I've seen some packages out there that cost as much as my first car. Crazy, right? But here's the thing: expensive is totally subjective. What might seem like a splurge to one person could be a total steal to another. And let's be real, the price of a session doesn't always tell the whole story.
When it comes down to it, investing in professional photography is about more than just the price tag. It's about capturing those moments you'll want to hold onto forever. That's why I like to keep things simple. I offer one session at a super affordable rate—just $425. It's all about accessibility without skimping on quality. When you invest in professional photography, you're not just getting pictures. You're investing in memories, in storytelling, and in the incredible bond you share with your furry friend. Trust me, it's worth every penny.
My Smartphone Takes Decent Photos, I Should Just Take Them Myself
In recent years, there's been a noticeable trend towards relying on smartphones for photography, and it's easy to see why. With the convenience of having a camera right in our pockets, capturing spontaneous moments has never been simpler. You can and should take photos of your furry friend as often as possible! However, while smartphones excel in accessibility, they often fall short in delivering the quality and depth that professional pet photography sessions offer.
Let's face it: not all photos taken on smartphones are frame-worthy. Many lack the desired composition, clarity, and emotional depth that professional sessions effortlessly capture. Moreover, the resolution and detail provided by smartphone cameras may be insufficient for larger prints or wall art, limiting the potential for showcasing cherished memories in all their glory.
Professional photographers bring a unique set of skills and techniques to the table, including proper lighting, posing, and composition, ensuring that every shot reflects the true essence of your bond with your pet. While smartphones are great for selfies, they often struggle to capture meaningful moments between owners and their pets in a diverse range of settings and poses. Investing in a professional pet photography session not only guarantees stunning images but also celebrates the multifaceted relationship you share with your furry companion in a way that smartphones simply can't match.
My Dog Is Too Young and/or Not Vaccinated
Do not let age or lack of vaccination stop you from booking a pet photography session for your puppy! I'm of the opinion that everyone should book a professional photography session for their puppies. There is SO MUCH emotion to capture; it's a day you'll never want to forget. Not to mention your pup will not stay that small forever. I wish I had let someone take photos of me meeting Cordelia for the first time.
The only limitation it location. Are you picking up your puppy from the breeder's house? Don't be afraid to ask if your photographer can tag along. Chances are the puppies have been in the breeder's yard, and it is a safe location to take photos. Is the breeder dropping your new family member off at your house? As long as you don't have a history of parvo in your backyard, we can take the photos there!
Typically, puppies are fully vaccinated by 16 weeks of age. If you're adopting an older, fully vaccinated puppy, there is almost no limt to where we can take them for photos! Still, if you feel most comfortable taking photos at your home, we can do that too! I'm always happy to discuss your concerns and work with you to have a safe and enjoyable experience.
My Dog Is Too Old For A Photoshoot
On the other side of the coin, you may have a senior dog, and worry that they are too old to have professional photos taken of them. Boy, could that not be farther from the truth! Navigating the challenges related to your dog's age or mobility can be daunting, but I've got you covered. It's crucial to acknowledge your dog's comfort and limitations during the photoshoot, ensuring a relaxed experience for both of you.
I understand the importance of accommodating your dog's needs, whether it's taking breaks for rest or choosing a location that suits their mobility level. It's never too late to capture precious moments with your frosty-faced pal. If mobility is a concern, we can adapt the photoshoot to take place in the comfort of your home or yard, ensuring an enjoyable experience for both of you. Don't let age or mobility hold you back—let's capture timeless memories together!
Whether it's concerns about behavior, cost, personal appearance, or mobility, each objection can be overcome with the right approach. Remember, capturing special moments with your furry companion is priceless. Despite initial hesitations, prioritize these moments—they're irreplaceable. By addressing objections and embracing the opportunity to preserve cherished memories, you're not just investing in photographs, but in the lasting bond you share with your beloved pet. Don't let doubts stand in the way—seize the opportunity to create timeless memories that you'll treasure for years to come.
