Every session with Willow Bee Photography begins with candid moments. They're relaxed and require zero effort on your part. Simply enjoy time with your dog while I start photographing. Once everyone is comfortable, we transition to posed shots. While posing for the camera can sound intimidating, I have five signature poses that I LOVE for their simplicity and authenticity. There is no wrong way to do them, and are the perfect way to round out a photo session. Explore my top five poses below!
Number One: The Kiss
My number one favorite pose has to be 'The Kiss.' The prompt is simple: give your pet a kiss. But the results? Breathtaking. This pose doesn't feel like a pose because at its core, you're simply showing your dog affection. Whether you choose to kiss your pup on the cheek, ear, snoot, or even the top of their head, it's sure to be a winner.
Number Two: The Hug
Next up, 'The Hug,' another affectionate pose that doesn't feel like one. This one is great for high energy dogs. You know, the one's who won't sit still? 'The Hug' not only keeps them in place without having to pull on their collar, it often also calms them down! Just like "The Kiss," this pose has many possibilites and is captivating in both close ups and wide shots.
Number Three: The Trick
'The Trick' is so VERSATILE. Every dog has a different trick repotoire, which means the possibilites are endless. Whether your pet's favorite trick is to shake, roll over, or sit up on their haunches, the photos are bound to be priceless. This pose is great because I can capture the bond you've built during training, but also get some cool shots of your pup showing off their skills!
Number Four: The Look
Look into your pet's eyes. Say their FAVORITE word. Walk, park, car. This makes for a good close up, and a full view. Sitting, standing, you name it. If your dog doesn't like to make eye contact, there is a modified version, where you just look at your dog. Think about your favorite thing about them. Remember them as a puppy. I'll get their attention. It's always a cool image.
Number Five: The Walk
Surprisingly, sometimes the leash simply belongs in the photo. (Think nice leather leads, or matching leash and collar sets) One great example is the easiest pose of all, "The Walk." We simply pick a scenic spot, and you walk your pup! Away from the camera and towards the camera gives variety. Contrary to popular belief, I don't recommend starting with this pose unless your dog is a master at loose leash walking. They are more likely to walk calmly on the leash towards the end of our session. The beginning is for letting loose and having fun! Not that this pose isn't fun ;)
